Multiplayer

Multiplayer Overview

Multiplayer is asynchronous and economy-driven. Players do not need to be online at the same moment or share the same map. Their observatories interact through server-authoritative identities, datasets, missions, coalitions, rights, and transactions.

1
Operate an institution

Each player may run up to three named active observatories; each receives its own permanent server identity and authoritative shared balances.

2
Register scientific output

Datasets receive permanent identities and ownership/provenance records.

3
Collaborate

Claim limited co-op mission slots, contribute RP/datasets, join persistent research coalitions, and compete for discipline influence.

4
Trade

List datasets, make offers, sell licenses, or transfer full ownership to another player.

5
Audit

The shared ledger preserves rights, settlements, contributions, and transaction history independently of local save state.

Why the server ledger matters

Your normal observatory simulation still runs in the game client, but shared resources cannot be safely trusted to a local save once other players depend on them. Cash transfers, RP commitments, ownership, licenses, co-op contributions, and market trades are therefore validated by the server.
