Glossary
Common game terms and the distinction between several similar-looking research/economy concepts.
- RO/day
- Research Output per game day: the observatory’s live scientific productivity rate.
- RP
- Research Points: accumulated/spendable progression resource used for technology and shared research commitments.
- Directive
- An active scientific focus such as Radio Astronomy or Exoplanet Research.
- Discovery
- A verified scientific finding generated by focused research.
- Dataset
- A persistent scientific data asset that can carry quality, category, processing stage, provenance, ownership, and licenses.
- Ledger revision
- Server version number used to prevent stale client saves from overwriting newer shared-economy state.
- Observatory Public ID
- Permanent server identity assigned to a synchronized observatory.
- Dataset Public ID
- Permanent server identity assigned to a registered dataset.
- NPC marketplace
- Simulated institutional buyers and demand.
- Player marketplace
- Human-to-human dataset licensing and ownership transfer.
- Cooperative mission
- Temporary multi-observatory objective with shared contribution targets and reward settlement.
- Research coalition
- Persistent multi-observatory alliance with membership roles, projects, milestones, and rankings.
- Coalition influence
- Discipline-specific territory derived from accepted coalition dataset contribution credit.
- Dataset Credit
- Scientific contribution value credited when an eligible dataset is accepted by a coalition project or cooperative mission.
- Reserved participant
- Co-op mission observatory that has claimed a slot but has not yet made its first accepted contribution.
- Committed participant
- Co-op mission observatory that has made an accepted contribution and now counts toward the mission participant minimum.
- Vote of No Confidence
- Coalition governance motion that can remove the Founder role when quorum and support thresholds are met.
- Retired observatory
- Inactive ledger observatory preserved for provenance and history but removed from normal active multiplayer participation.
- Non-exclusive license
- A dataset-use right that does not transfer ownership and can coexist with other permitted licenses.
- Exclusive license
- A stronger license that limits subsequent licensing choices.
- Full sale
- Marketplace transaction that transfers active dataset ownership.
- Disrepair
- Low-health facility state in which the building stops providing normal operational value.
- Grid component
- A connected group of buildings/wires evaluated together for electrical generation, load, and loss.
