Construction & Layout
Every building competes for land, cash, staff, maintenance, and power. A good layout is not only visually tidy—it shortens power links, keeps critical infrastructure connected, and leaves room for expansion.
Building a facility
Facilities occupy tile footprints and have acquisition/build costs, construction time, power requirements, staff requirements, upkeep, and health. Paths and infrastructure can be dragged into strips where supported.
Layout priorities
Power-wire efficiency falls with distance. Put large consumers near reliable generation or create intentional regional grid components.
Science facilities often need later upgrades or companion buildings. Avoid filling every open tile around the first telescope.
A backup generator connected to core operations can be more useful than one feeding every building indiscriminately.
A new telescope may also require another staff hire, more generation, greater processing throughput, and more maintenance capacity.
