Shared Server Ledger

The ledger is the authoritative record for resources and rights that affect more than one observatory. It prevents an old local save from rolling back a trade, payout, dataset contribution, or ownership transfer.

What is authoritative?

Observatories

Permanent IDs, player-visible names, active/retired status, revisions, synchronized balances, and the server-enforced three-active-observatory account limit.

Datasets and rights

Permanent dataset IDs, provenance, ownership, licenses, publication state, and marketplace availability.

Transactions

Balanced entries for fees, payouts, trades, contributions, corrections, and other shared-economy movements.

Audit history

Administrative changes, contribution records, trade validation, and other events remain inspectable.

Revision protection

Each synchronized save carries a server ledger revision. If a stale save attempts to write older shared values, the server reconciles from the authoritative ledger instead of allowing the old client state to erase newer transactions.

Retirement instead of destructive deletion

When an observatory is no longer operational, retirement removes it from active marketplace and coalition participation while preserving provenance, trades, licenses, contributions, transactions, and audit history. Founder retirement invokes coalition succession rather than erasing the coalition.

Where players use it

The player ledger page shows observatories, datasets, rights, transactions, and cooperative missions. Most actual changes happen through game actions, co-op contribution controls, coalition projects, or marketplaces.
