Data Reduction Cabin
The Data Reduction Cabin is not a passive research bonus. It is a live processing system with throughput, dynamic power demand, thermal load, throttling, shutdown, and optional automatic protection.
Why processing matters
Research potential above the baseline must pass through operational Data Reduction Cabin throughput. If the observatory creates more raw science than the cabins can process, part of the potential waits unprocessed and does not become usable daily science at full rate.
Power coupling
The cabin calculates its processing budget inside its own power-grid component. Ordinary building loads are served first; the remaining deliverable generation becomes the data-processing power budget. If there is not enough power even for standby/cooling, throughput can drop to zero.
Temperature and throttling
Higher utilization raises temperature. At 85°C the cabin begins to throttle; as it approaches 95°C, usable capacity falls sharply. At 95°C it enters thermal shutdown and will not resume normal work until it cools below 70°C.
Automatic thermal protection
When enabled, automatic protection reduces throughput before the facility reaches a hard thermal trip. Turning it off gives you more aggressive manual control but increases the risk of a shutdown at the worst possible moment.
