Scientific territory across the coalition network.

Each discipline is a 37-hex territory. Influence is allocated from accepted coalition dataset credit, so major coalitions form large holdings while smaller coalitions can still retain visible research enclaves.

Version 1 rules

How hex control is assigned

37 hexes per discipline

Each science discipline uses a radius-three hex territory, giving enough resolution for leaders, challengers, and smaller enclaves.

Influence source

Only accepted coalition dataset contribution credit counts. Overall coalition score, member count, cash, and RP do not directly control territory.

Small-coalition visibility

The top 12 coalitions in a discipline are individually represented. Coalitions at 2%+ influence can also appear, up to 16 named holders. Each represented holder receives at least one hex.

Long-tail handling

Remaining coalitions are combined into a gray Minor Coalition Network holding so hundreds of tiny entries do not make the map unreadable.

Contested frontiers

Adjacent rival holdings are striped only when both coalitions hold at least 5% of that discipline. A gap of 10 percentage points or less is contested; 5 points or less is highly contested.

Stable colors

Coalition colors are generated deterministically from the coalition name, so the same coalition keeps the same map color between visits.
